Paloma Alaminos is a passionate, creative, and fearless advocate for workers’ rights. She leverages her legal training and her academic and artistic background to grapple with complex and novel legal issues on behalf of workers.
Paloma practices union-side labour law across various industries. She has a particular interest in cutting-edge, complex legal issues, as well as construction industry labour law; she enjoys helping unions navigate the intricate world of construction labour relations. Paloma is a skilled legal researcher and written advocate who brings an analytical, highly detail-oriented approach to all her work.
Prior to joining UPFH as an articling student in 2023, Paloma worked as a summer research student for a provincial public sector union. In this capacity she conducted legal research into remote work and gender equity for use by front-line organizers, bargaining teams, and union internal policymakers alike.
Paloma received both her JD and her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in history, bioethics and biology from the University of Toronto. Her academic work interrogates legal and narrative constructions of power through narrative theory and phenomenology. During law school, Paloma was a member of the UofT Law Union Steering Committee and mobilized progressive law students around social justice issues. Paloma is also trained in classical (operatic) voice, and her artistry grounds her creative, empathetic advocacy.
